Wear and tear on elevator wire ropes in residential elevators

Necessity
Elevator wire ropes are a crucial safety device in elevators, ensuring the safe lifting and lowering of the elevator car and playing an irreplaceable safety role. Due to the complex and diverse causes of broken or kinked wire ropes, and the numerous factors contributing to problems, we must not only strengthen the inspection, maintenance, and upkeep of elevator wire ropes, but also strictly adhere to the regulations of the State Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to conduct installation supervision and periodic inspections, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of elevators.

Repair and Prevention Measures

(1) Replace the wire rope.

(2) Replace the guide wheel bearing and adjust the guide wheel position.

(3) Replace the traction sheave.

(4) After replacing the components, conduct traction capacity tests and adjustments.

(5) Further verify the overload protection device.

(6) Train users and safety management personnel.

Precautions

(1) During elevator installation inspection, special attention should be paid to the installation process of the traction sheave, car, counterweight sheave, guide sheave, and the winding of their wire ropes. The installation quality significantly impacts the future safe operation of the elevator and the wear and tear of the wire ropes, and is difficult to adjust.

(2) Some maintenance companies are unfamiliar with the condition of the equipment they maintain. Inspectors should strengthen the inspection of elevators maintained by maintenance units not commissioned by the elevator manufacturer, especially those with a smaller market share.

(3) Elevator maintenance personnel should strengthen their patrol and maintenance efforts, receive training on relevant business knowledge for self-maintenance, and thoroughly eliminate elevator malfunctions caused by safety components, making necessary records.

(4) Special equipment management personnel of user units must strengthen training to improve safety awareness and management level, and educate equipment users on relevant safety knowledge.
